celebrated and mercury-nominated uk duo rae & christian released their first new material for ten years in 2013 on night time stories/late night tales after spending the last decade meditating in a buddhist monastery in swindon. this year the label commissioned a series of remixes from mercury rising and mang dynasty (aka ray mang & bill brewster) take on favourite game featuring rising star of the swindon buddhist circuit jake emlyn. mang dynasty focus on gita langley s backing vocal hooks adding a chorus piano motif and stretch things out into an epic nine minute plus main version aimed squarely at the dancefloor (and afghanistan). jake emlyns more aurally-pleasing melodic parts are utilised towards the end taking things up another level to a happy finish. initial reactions have been so strong it seemed rude not to slip out a 12inch on mangled, home of the hits!

rod needs no introduction as the prolific alter ego of a certain dutch producer already well associated with figure. here we are treated to 3 new rod cuts, precisely aimed at the dancefloor, plus a special len faki remix to crown the package. label curator len faki offers up his take on >truck one< in a storming, action-packed ride, building on rods sparse palette of sound-design rumbles, and creates a straight up modern techno roller that refuses to be shy!

the third issue of raw waxes’ release number four is on the way. after featuring mike parker, haiku, inigo kennedy and korova as remixers of the noisemaker, this time we see abstract division and blind observatory reinterpreting ‘shuttle’, the final track of the series. shuttle starts with a fat kick and a psychedelic synth, bleep and acid elements go back and forth, up and down, appearing from the gloom of the artist’ soul. hi-­&#8208,,,hats, acid and bleep evolve together, embracing acidity and generating a naughty groove. abstract division’s reinterpretation is clearly a 4/4 dance floor oriented. based on the evolution of the acid patterns as a minded loop, the dutch duo adds 909 hi-­&#8208,,,hats and claps, modify the the kick-­&#8208,,, bass structure, reaching a trusted track for exciting moments into clubs. blind observatory’s remix is the gentle side of the record. starting slowly and lightly, the artist sets a mellow synth plus clean hi-­&#8208,,,hats, turning the production into a sweet idm caress. a personal, delicate cut appraising the entire release.

since late seventys n.o.i.a. have always been well present on the electronic scene. in 2015, they are back on italian records with their 1983 original versions, plus a new remix using the same vintage equipment and keeping the old school vibe! the other new version is made by i-robots,already well know for his recent reworks of utopia by giorgio moroder, celebrates italo disco with his modern and powerful step.

known as pantaleon perez prado, was the younger brother of the famous king of mambo. pantaleon, who came to europe in the 1950s, recorded several albums with unifunk. a powerful big funk band sound featuring: tullio de piscopo, mario rusca, paolo tommelleri, pino prestipino and others. for this second lp, the obscure vocalist don alfio had gained enough prestige within the band to share the top of the bill with the bandleader. that is probably because, in october 1973, the love child 45rpm (which has nothing to do with the 1968 supremes hit) had enjoyed a good airplay on supersonic, a daily italian public radio show that presented a lot of freshly released records. the djs explicitly credited the record to don alfio with perez prado. the reviving of chicago banana from escandalo!, plus many new tracks including circle, imperfect and the jazzy chato, gave the record a precise latin-funk attitude. bossanova evergreen bahia (also known as na baixa do sapateiro) and a synthled version of ciliegi rosa (cherry pink and apple blossom white) are the only two concessions to latin standards.
